A true visionary, Anthony is much more than the founder and managing director of America’s First Eco-Sustainable City. He is the CEO of The Pugliese Company, where he oversees a team of more than 135 people responsible for smart growth planning projects, with a focus on rezoning and planning for revitalizing previously underutilized land in urban areas.
“We are slowly, but surely destroying the world we live in,” Anthony says. “Cities need not grow in an unplanned, disorderly, irresponsible manner. We can have a clean life and a clean world through clean technology.”
Anthony saw the history-making purchase of 41,300 acres in Central Florida as a way to change our world for the better. Anthony’s commitment to improving the planet is evident in his other pursuits as well.
Buildings produce 48 percent of the annual carbon emissions in our country, according tot the U.S. Department of Energy. With an eye for the future, Anthony and a team of professionals developed a new method for creating storage facilities. The LEED Certified construction, combined with an automated Storage and Retrieval Machine (SRM), and efficiencies that save as much as 50 percent of the normal operating expenses, such as power required for such a building, the automated self-service format earned the Safe & Secure Automated Self Storage a nomination as the Green Building of America Award.
Destiny will be one of the first cities in the world with an inverted, decentralized, smart-grid infrastructure; allowing the residents and businesses operating in this environment to have a near zero carbon footprint. The self-sustaining city is also preserving more space than it consumes, and supports surrounding agriculture and nature preserves.
